Our Serbs Traditionally from the Heart
This year again, the delegation of the humanitarian organization “Our Serbs” led by the president, Kathy Fanslow, has traditionally spent Christmas in Serbia, with those who need help the most. The ten-day stay in Serbia was filled with conversations with our people, the clergy, local humanitarian organizations and traditionally at the Church of St. Sava in the presence of Patriarch Porphyry, 600 Children were given Christmas packages.
The delegation visited the family in Bolech to whom three years ago they donated materials to refinish the attic, where they now live with their three children. They did all the work themselves and created a nice space for a comfortable life with their children.
They were also guests of the Diocese of Niska, during which the organization was presented with the Medal of Saint Roman, for exceptional efforts in the construction and furnishing of houses in the Medvedja settlement.
This year, Kathy and her co-workers organized a visit to a shoe store for two families with children who needed shoes. Two mothers, one with five, the other with four children, expressed their deep gratitude for this help, and especially for the joy of the little ones, who could choose their own shoes according to their own taste and wishes. The pleasant socializing continued at lunch with pizza and this time will remain an exceptional memory not only for the children, but also for members of the “Our Serbs” organization.
Traditionally Christmas lunch is organized by VDS soup Kitchen in Belgrade for about 2000 people who need help.
At the end of their stay in Serbia, the delegation of Our Serbs had lunch with the priests, Bishop Peter and Bishop Justin who arrived in Belgrade from Paris.
This visit brought great satisfaction and the need for the importance of the humanitarian work of “Our Serbs” with exceptional gratitude to all the donors, thanks to who these activities are possible. The next visit to Serbia is scheduled for June.
