A COOPERATION AGREEMENT HAS BEEN SIGNED
In June, the humanitarian organization Our Serbs, led by President Kathy Fanslow, visited Serbia to assess the needs for donations and aid provided to vulnerable families and individuals, and to plan future collaborative projects.
The delegation traveled to Nis, where an agreement was signed with Bishop Arsenije for the construction of transitional homes.
The contract was executed at the Diocesan House in Nis, allocating $100,000 US from Our Serbs to the Religious Charity Guardianship of the Diocese of Nis, Good Samaritan, for constructing a facility for teenagers aging out of the orphanage. This facility will support them until they can independently sustain themselves. The construction is set to commence shortly.
To recap, in 2023, with the support of donors and the VDS “Good Samaritan,” five houses were constructed in Medvedje for large, impoverished families. This year, two more houses are slated for construction through private donations in this least developed municipality within the Diocese of Nis’s jurisdiction.
“I am delighted to be here to finalize the contract for this significant project, which we agreed upon a few months back and is now materializing,” expressed Kathy Fanslow. Bishop Arsenije of Nis extended his gratitude to Our Serbs for their longstanding support and understanding towards the Religious Charitable Guardianship. “Previously, we built five houses, with two and a half being contributions from Our Serbs.”
“We are embarking on a project to construct a house for teenagers from orphanages who must leave upon reaching the age of majority. They will reside in this development until they are self-sufficient. In collaboration with the Center for Social Work, we have taken the initial steps towards realizing this project. We will soon sign a contract with the City of Niš and the Center for Social Work, with the aim to complete the project by year’s end,” announced Bishop Arsenije.
